Stussy X YO! MTV Raps

On August 6, 1988 Yo! MTV Raps first debuted on MTV and changed the world. It’s hard to imagine, but way back in 1988 rap music as a whole wasn't as accessible as it is today. Rap music was an underground genre of music, not like it is today that challenged what was going on in popular music at the time.

YO! MTV Raps broadcasted the culture of rap to millions of homes at a time when there were only a handful of local outlets to see a rap video.

The style, the trends, the language of Rap began to influence popular culture and by the time the show left the air in 1995, the genre of Rap was no longer a well kept secret.

From then on rap music has grown into the most popular genre of music today, most of this being to to YO! MTV Raps.
